The Karmøy March

Take a trip over the roof of Karmøy! Along the way you will experience all the variations of Karmøy's landscape and wonderful nature from cool forests to open heather uplands. Standing 132 metres over sea level, Søre Sålefjell Mountain is particularly noticeable in the landscape, however, once the summit is reached the view of most of Haugalandet is superb.

The Karmøy March is trip for those who wish to use a whole day in the great outdoors. The entire trip takes approximately 6-7 hours walking at a normal pace. The summit of Sålefjell Mountain is an excellent location for a pause while simultaneously enjoying the panorama view. From the summit one can hike to both Kinnebu - a daytripper canbin at Åkramarka - and to Røyningsbu towards Skudeneshavn. The Karmøy March trail is marked via Røyningsbu to Skudeneshavn.

Other:
Commences on the south side of Karmøyhallen and is marked with “K” at intervals. Ends at the sports complex in Skudeneshavn.

Terrain:
Trail with gravel sections.

From Haugesund:
Aprox. 19 km. Take highway RV-47 south over Karmsund Bridge. Continue along this road going through the tunnel near Kopervik. Take to the right at the roundabout after the tunnel onto RV-511. Continue along this road for approximately 500 metres to Karmøyhallen where the trip commences.
