Many visitors have been pleasantly surprised upon their first walk along Åkrasanden Beach. It is especially during the summer months that a Mediterranean atmosphere is prevalent, with the long and beautiful white sand strand glistening beside the sea.

On warm summer days, the beach is full of people of all ages: children playing with buckets and spades, grandparents reading newspapers, teenagers playing Volleyball, windsurfers riding the tide, and those sunning themselves after a fresh dip in the cool sea water that washes in from the west (average temperature during the summer is +15°C).
Åkrasanden Beach is also an excellent year-round starting point for hikers. A nature and heritage trail connects the strand area with Stavasanden Beach and Hop near Ferkingstad some 2-3 km further south. This is a walking trip through a cultural landscape formed, for better or worse, by the people that lived here over hundreds of years and includes distinctive sand vegetation, exciting historical traces and boathouse ruins in the landscape that dates back to 160 AD.
